“To me, Valiance describes a person that has incredible strength, is strong willed and strong minded. Someone who pushes through and is courageous, determined, and has the ambition to just go for it.”
Angela Blair is a 26 year old musician located in Memphis, Tennessee. She received her Bachelors in the Music business and the recording industry. She states that she has always had a love for the arts, especially music, and a dream that pushed her along toward her path. Her love from music was fostered from a young age. She sang in her church choir and was surrounded by her family full of talented musicians. The difference between her vision for music and her family’s was that she yearned to make music her professional career. She had a path in mind and followed it.
She was involved in a variety of art forms, one of which was participating on the dance team at a performing arts high school she attended. Blair attributes some of her success as a musician to the experience she had on the dance team. Her ability to have a powerful stage presence and connect with her audience come from a season in her life where she built those qualities through dance.
“Not everyone will support you”
One lesson that Angela Blair has learned in her life so far is that sometimes you have to depend on yourself, your own vision, and motivation to push you forward. She states that there were times when she was discouraged by some people who she expected would support her vision, but did not. She felt that if some of the people closest to her did not support her, then why should anyone else? Blair quickly resolved within herself that no matter who supported her, she would stay the path, even if it was her, by herself. She was confident in her vision and in the calling she had to share in her heart through music.
Another profound lesson that Blair learned was that extreme perfectionism could bring her down in seeing progress in her work. For example, instead of releasing a piece of work, she would hold on to it in order to make it perfect. She continues to have high standards of quality for her music, however, she is willing to see beauty and growth within her imperfections and embrace the progress.
“My music heals, it helps you find who you are. My music makes you feel beautiful and expresses love”
Blair has a message of healing and beauty and love that is the foundation of her music. She hopes to inspire her listeners to have self love. She wants women to know that they are beautiful inside and out, and to have self confidence. The message Angela shares to all her listeners is that it's a good thing to be strong, but it's also okay to not have strength at times. Blair is vulnerable with her audience, sharing her imperfections, trials and tribulations. One powerful message that she shares is that if you lose yourself, there is hope in finding yourself again. Ultimately, Blair's message is LOVE.
“I want to see change through my music”
Angela Blair is still confidently and persistently chasing her dream. She released her first single called Love Me More in 2017 and her second single in February of 2020. The pandemic affected the timeline of the release of her first EP, however she is looking forward to sharing her first body of work with the world soon. In the next 5 years, Angela Blair hopes to have music as her full time job. She hopes to make a mark, an impact in the world with her gift.
